What epoxy countertops are
Epoxy countertops are created by pouring a thick layer of clear and pigmented resin over an existing countertop or a prepared substrate. Using colors and techniques, we can mimic marble, granite or flowing abstract patterns. The result is a seamless, glossy surface that looks custom because it is.
Resurfacing old countertops
Many homes have laminate, tile or dated solid surface tops that are still solid but look tired. Epoxy can be applied over them after cleaning, sanding and priming, turning an outdated kitchen into something fresh without tearing out cabinets or tops. It is a popular upgrade before selling or in rentals.
Shop benches and bars
Detached shops and garage man caves often include a bar, a workbench or a counter. Epoxy creates a tough, easy-to-clean surface that handles tools and spills. Wood slab bar tops with clear epoxy fills show off natural grain and live edges.
Designs
- White and gray marble looks
- Black and gold veining
- Earthy stone tones
- Metallic and pearlescent swirls
- Clear coats over wood or embedded items
The process
- Protect cabinets, floors and walls.
- Clean, sand and prime surfaces.
- Pour and design the color layers.
- Add the clear flood coat.
- Allow cure time before use.
Most kitchen projects take two to three days, with full use after several days of cure.
Durability and care
Epoxy is hard and resists most household stains, but it is not heat-proof. Use trivets for hot pans and cutting boards for knives. Clean with mild soap and water. Fine scratches can be buffed, and a fresh top coat can be applied years later.
Bathrooms
Bathroom vanities are a great size for epoxy, and a marble look gives an upscale feel at a fraction of stone cost. We protect fixtures and create a seamless finish around sinks.
Is it right for you?
Epoxy counters are best for people who want a custom look, a quick update or a durable bar or bench. If you need a surface that can take hot pans every day, stone or quartz may suit you better. We will help you weigh the options.
Rentals and resale
Landlords and homeowners preparing to sell often want a kitchen update without a full remodel. Epoxy resurfacing changes the look of a room in days and costs far less than new stone. We can match colors to new paint or cabinet finishes so the space feels renewed.
Wood slab tables
Live edge slabs from local wood make striking dining tables and bar tops. We fill cracks and voids with clear or tinted epoxy and finish the whole surface for durability. Colors range from crystal clear to deep blue river looks.
Edges and backsplashes
Epoxy can wrap edges for a seamless look and can run up a backsplash to tie the counter together. We discuss edge profiles and drip edges during the quote.
Working in your home
Countertop pours happen inside your living space, so we protect it carefully. Cabinets, floors and appliances are masked off, and we manage ventilation and dust during sanding. During the cure, the kitchen is off limits for a short time, so we help you plan a temporary setup for meals. Once the protective film comes off, the space is clean and ready to enjoy.
Can you pour over laminate?
Yes, if it is solid and properly prepared.
Is epoxy food safe?
Cured epoxy is generally safe for normal food contact. Use cutting boards for prep.
Will it yellow?
UV-stable resins reduce yellowing. Keep it out of constant direct sun.
